How does the course work?
- The course starts Sunday 11 May
- Every Sunday we'll meet live on zoom at 5pm (UK time) for 75 minutes of practice. Each session will begin with specific strengthening and mobility work to prepare the right areas of the body to balance in forearm stand and handstand, and then we move to the wall to work on balance, technique, line, endurance, entries and shapes in forearm stand and handstand. At the end of each class, there will be time for you to ask any questions you may have.
- After each class, I will send out the recording of the session along with a suggested homework plan to help you stay on track with your practice in between our live sessions and achieve your goals.
- If you can't make the sessions live, you'll be able to practice with the recordings.
- These are not 6 random classes. It is a course where each session has been designed to build upon the last, and therefore you'll be led step-by-step into more challenging work and concepts as the weeks continue. This ensures that you are able to progress in your strength, mobility, technique and knowledge each week.
- There are a total of 6 sessions over 6 weeks.
- You will have access to the recordings permanently.
How will this course help you to finally start balancing in handstand and take your forearm stand to the next level?
If you're anything like me, you're likely a yoga student who has been doing yoga for a long time and wondering why handstand is just not happening for you. Maybe you're seeing yogis on Instagram doing handstands with ease, or someone next to you in your yoga class holding handstand and wondering why they can do it and you can't.
I've been there. And for a long time, I thought the reason that these people could handstand and I couldn't, was simply because they had been doing yoga for longer than me. The message I was hearing and seeing on social media was to just keep doing your yoga practice and eventually handstand will happen. So I figured that one day, when I had been doing yoga for as long as these people, then I too would be able to handstand.
But now I look back and wonder why on earth I thought I would be able to achieve a handstand without specifically training for this skill.
And that's the thing. Your yoga practice is not preparing you to hold handstand or forearm stand (or take that forearm stand to the next level!).
No matter how many opportunities there are for handstands in your yoga class, no matter how many chances you have to run to the wall for some handstand hops in between the yoga flow, that's not going to result in you holding a solid handstand. Why? Because you need to be following a training plan that is actually preparing your body to balance upside down.
You need to be building strength in the right places for handstand and forearm stand. You need to be working on achieving the range of motion that is needed to balance upside down. You need to be learning good technique for balancing, entering or holding a good line in forearm stand and handstand. You need to be doing the right drills consistently to be able to execute this technique (Just learning technique doesn't mean you can actually apply it). And you need to be progressively building your inversion skills in a logical way - focusing on putting in the work to achieve easier skills first and building up to the harder ones.
This work isn't happening in your yoga class. And that is why you can't balance in handstand and have so much more you can achieve with forearm stand!
But this is exactly what you'll be doing in Accelerate Your Inversions!
Is Accelerate Your Inversions right for you?
This course is for you if:
- You have a solid headstand
- You have some balance in forearm stand. (If you're very solid, that's great!)
- You're wondering why you're not balancing in handstand and you want to finally do something to change this.
- You're ready to put in the work to get stronger and achieve your goals! (There's nothing like feeling yourself getting stronger and being able to do things you could never do before!)
How much is the course?
The entire 6-week course is £200.
